History

The Tour de New York originally started out in 2004 as the Saturn Rochester Twilight Criterium to the delight of both racers and cycling fans. The inaugural race had a respectable pro field right out of the gate and the Criterium course, located in the center of the beautiful City of Rochester, was immediately regarded as world class.

In year two the Criterium hosted the New York State Championships and in year three, 2006, the event was awarded placement on the USAC National Calendar – the NRC Schedule.
2007 developed incredibly as the Saturn Rochester Twilight Criterium was placed on the prestigious International UCI Americas Tour. In 2008 the event expanded into a 3-day Omnium which included a Time Trial, the Twilight Criterium and a 102-mile Road Race that were designed specifically as a platform to introduce the Tour de New York.
